OFF Zine: A collection of photos of Natas Kaupas, Tommy Guerrero and Mark Gonzales

Words by Grant Brittain:  “I count myself quite lucky to have been in the right place at the right time. I just happened to pick up a camera while working at the Del Mar Skate Ranch in 1979 and witnessed the skate parks being bulldozed in the 1970s and 1980s one by one and there being less places to skate and congregate. What do skaters do when times get tough? They adapt and invent new ways to have fun.

I was there to document Natas Kaupas, Tommy Guerrero and Mark Gonzales and their involvement and the evolution of Street Skating through the 1980s. They set the stage for the future of skateboarding with their creativity in the urban environment and utilization of handrails, ledges and gaps. I am stoked I was able to hone my craft through that time in the Golden Age of Skateboarding. Thanks to Natas, Gonz, Tommy and Transworld Skateboarding Magazine for that.”
